California Wildfires Rage, Youngevity Safe

You may have seen on the news how the recent Southern California fires have affected San Diego County. Youngevity’s headquarters is located within two miles from the fire line of the Otay Lakes fire here in Chula Vista, that burned last Sunday and Monday. Rest assured that long before then, measures were already in place to ensure continued operation of Youngevity, even in the event of a total loss of the building.

The Youngevity headquarters was completed in the year 2000, under the direct supervision of Wiley Hurt. It built to, not only comply with current fire and earthquake construction codes, but to exceed them!

We are located 1 block from local fire station, and within a business park of similar modern construction. The building is constructed of "tilt-up" reinforced concrete walls, and has a full fire sprinkler system throughout, which is monitored 24 hours by the fire department.

Youngevity has also taken the additional preventative measures of installing an emergency back-up generator that can supply full power in the event of a grid failure within ten seconds. Those of you who have toured the Youngevity facility have no doubt seen the computer server room that our operations depend on. What you may not have seen within that room is the redundant un-interruptible power supplies, the automatic information back-up, the redundant information storage, and state of the art software and hardware firewall and virus protection. The equipment in that room also operates in its own temperature controlled climate with HEPA air filtration to ensure equipment reliability. On top of all that there is a layer of physical security in our facility, with controlled access in place protecting sensitive equipment.

On Sunday afternoon when the fires threatened our home that was not even a mile away from the fire line, and facing mandatory evacuations; it was a logical choice to evacuate my family, important documents, and irreplaceable photographs to the safest place in the area… the Youngevity building. We have taken great measures to ensure that Youngevity will be her today, tomorrow, and for generations to come.
